Don’t ask why I thought it was Saturday today. I watched Saturday Night Live last night and woke up thinking it was Saturday!

Normally I don’t work on Sunday (took yesterday off) but will probably be in today then get off early to party and rock 2007!

New for this year: Help support female soldiers in Iraq!

I came across a website where I can directly send care packages to soldiers in Iraq. There are certain units that are mostly female and they need personal toiletries and some units need clothing like pajamas and slippers because the tempretures in their area are freezing at night.

If you can make a donation of even $5 click send me an email to use a credit card or Paypal. 100% of the donation money will go to shipping costs and the purchase of listed items that soldiers are requesting.

Some popular requests are:

o Deodorant
o Sunblock
o Shampoo and soap
o Simple canned foods and crackers
o Puzzle books (Sudoku, Crosswords…board games too.)
o Candy
o Calling cards
o Small polar fleece blankets
o Pet supplies (a few soldiers have rescued puppies and cats on the streets.)
o Stationary
o Batteries
o DVD’s
o Coffee (Some companies donate coffee but it is not available to some soldiers in different areas.)
o Disposable Cameras….

All the everyday items that we take for granted on a daily basis will make a soldiers day somewhere in the world!

I ask for monetary donations simply because the people I am working with need to have packages sent the same day as I get their address. They move around a lot. There are also guidelines for what type of items can be sent.

No playboy mags, ha ha, or any items that are in direct conflict with Islamic idealisms including pork products or Bibles unless religious material is specifically requested. The packages are sent directly to the units and takes anywhere from 4 – 10 days max. for delivery. Care packages are not limited to Iraq as soldiers stationed in Korea and other parts of the world can receive shipments as well.

Shipping costs are relatively inexpensive $5- $10 as they are mailed in the US and then shipped out by the military.

Depending on the donations will dictate how many packages I can send out. I will send you an update and budget of how much was spent and on what by request.
